“To fight is also to educate”: the potential political and educomunicative of brazilian the high school student movement in schools and online social networks (2015-2016)

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESThe occupation movement of public schools in Brazil by high school students in the period 2015-2016 constituted a phenomenon that evidenced youth’s protagonism and highlighted the precariousness of basic education in the discussions of the public schedule as well as media. In addition to occupying schools and streets, the students have occupied social networks online such as Facebook to express their opinions and demands. This research emerges in this conjecture. Thus, our central objective is to investigate the communicative and representational processes of resistance constituted in the context of the high school student movement 2015-2016 in the country. Thereunto, we have as specific objectives: analyze how the students have appropriated online social networks to build their own communication and self-representation; understand the tensioning between the secondary student movement and the coverage of the hegemonic and alternative media, through the counter narratives produced by the youth; know the representations and propositions juveniles on public education and identify the presence or absence of the principles and the areas of intervention of the Educommunication present in the communicative practices of the movement. As methodological procedure, we use a combination of approaches, such as exploratory research, semi-structured interviews with secondary students who occupied schools in São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná (three scenarios that stood out in this context of student mobilization), and the online-systematic observation of the Facebook pages of the schools occupied by these respective students interviewed. The theoretical contribution to develop the research consists of a discussion about social movements in network, citizenship and communication, Educommunication and youth cultures. As a result, we highlight key elements that characterize the communicative and representational processes of resistance of this studied context, such as: The network communication, prominent in this scenario, contributed to the construction of the collective identity and the legitimation of a transnational social technology; the communicative processes are characterized by participatory, democratic management and horizontal relations; the counter narratives of Fan Pages reveal the appropriation of creative strategies online communication, delineating a self-representation of the young person as a critical and political subject and configuring a rich communicative ecosystem; critical and political posture in relation to the mass media, especially to local vehicles; critical and propositional posture also in the juvenile representations on the public education, suggesting the occupations as an "educational reference model". In this scenario, the concepts and areas of intervention of Educommunication it is preeminent, a fact that also highlights, as main statement of the research, the process of education for citizenship that characterizes the communicative practices constructed in this scenario of resistance.O movimento de ocupação das escolas públicas no Brasil por estudantes secundaristas no período de 2015-2016 constituiu um fenômeno que evidenciou o protagonismo juvenil e pautou a precarização da educação básica nas discussões da agenda pública e também midiática. Além de ocupar as escolas e as ruas, as e os estudantes ocuparam as redes sociais online como o Facebook para expressar suas opiniões e demandas. Esta pesquisa emerge nessa conjuntura. Assim, nosso objetivo central é investigar os processos comunicativos e representacionais de resistência constituídos no contexto do movimento estudantil secundarista 2015-2016 no país. Para tanto, temos como objetivos específicos: analisar de que forma os e as estudantes se apropriaram das redes sociais online para construir a sua própria comunicação e autorrepresentação; compreender os tensionamentos entre o movimento estudantil secundarista e a cobertura da mídia hegemônica e alternativa, por meio das contranarrativas produzidas pelos e pelas jovens; conhecer as representações e proposições juvenis sobre educação pública e identificar a presença ou não dos princípios e das áreas de intervenção da educomunicação presentes nas práticas comunicativas do movimento. Como procedimento metodológico, utilizamos uma combinação de abordagens, como a pesquisa exploratória, entrevistas semiestruturadas com estudantes secundaristas que ocuparam escolas em São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul e Paraná (três cenários que se destacaram nesse contexto de mobilização estudantil), e a observação online-sistemática das páginas no Facebook das escolas ocupadas por estes respectivos estudantes entrevistados e entrevistadas. O aporte teórico para desenvolver a pesquisa consiste em uma discussão sobre movimentos sociais em rede, cidadania e comunicação, educomunicação e culturas juvenis. Como resultado, destacamos elementos-chaves que caracterizaram os processos comunicativos e representacionais de resistência desse contexto estudado, tais como: A comunicação em rede, proeminente nesse cenário, contribuiu na construção da identidade coletiva e na legitimação de uma tecnologia social transnacional; os processos comunicativos são caraterizados por uma gestão participativa, democrática e por relações horizontais; as contranarrativas das Fan Pages revelam a apropriação de criativas estratégias da comunicação online, delineando uma autorrepresentação do jovem como sujeito crítico e político e configurando um rico ecossistema comunicativo; postura crítica e política em relação aos meios de comunicação de massa, principalmente aos veículos locais; postura crítica e propositiva também nas representações juvenis sobre a educação pública, sugerindo as ocupações como um “modelo educacional referência”. Nesse cenário é destaque os conceitos e áreas de intervenção da Educomunicação, constatação que nos faz realçar também, como principal afirmação da pesquisa, o processo de educação para a cidadania que caracteriza as práticas comunicativas construídas nesse cenário de resistência
